Sex workers who do in-person work are facing a near or complete loss of income as they try to physically distance and self-isolate in response to COVID The venues where they work such as strip clubs, massage parlors and dungeons are shut down. Others who rely on meeting clients traveling to the city for conventions or other events have had dates cancelled or are separating themselves from clients and hotels for the sake of their own and communal safety. Adult performers cannot create content with new work partners. The unrecognized labor of sex workers and all the implications of working in a criminalized industry are magnified by the pandemic.

Sustainable Leadership Fund First Club. About the Sex Worker Giving Circle. The SWGC was created because sex workers are best positioned to confront and transform the oppressive conditions of our own lives. However, movements led by sex workers and people with experience in the sex trade are critically under-resourced despite ongoing targeting and attacks.

If you have a larger expense or ongoing needs we will gladly promote your crowdfunding campaign on our social media, or help you set one up. We ask that you not apply for these funds if: you are working in a part of the industry that has not been affected by COVID, or have the ability to temporarily access this type of work; if you are able to receive support from your family or partner; able to find work in a different industry. We have limited funds and these grants are intended for folks who do not have these other options. That said, we are sensitive to the factors that make survival difficult for many dependents, documentation status, health, etc.
